Abstract: The practice of prognosticating the social and economic development in Ukraine has been analyzed, the reasons for insufficiency of the forecasts accuracy and reliability and the absence of their positive influence on the economic policy have been determined in the paper. The recommendations on the prognostication method and methodology improvement have been given.
