Abstract: The article substantiates the need for appropriate analytical support for assessing the economic efficiency of design decisions in construction, and formulates the role of project financing in the construction production system. It is noted that project financing is considered as a tool for implementing long-term investment projects aimed at modernizing and developing the production base of the Russian economy. It was revealed that the methodological support for the selection of investment projects is based on the concept of project financing, considered as a method of attracting long-term debt financing for large projects through «financial engineering», based on a loan against the cash flow created only by the project itself; it depends on a detailed assessment of the project’s creation, operational and revenue risks and their allocation among investors, lenders and other participants based on contracts and other contractual agreements.
