Annotation: The article deals with the study of the role of the personnel resources of local self-government bodies in the effective functioning of local self-government. The concepts of personnel resources, personnel resources of local self-government bodies, staff assistance have been considered. The main principles of the formation of a modern system of staff assistance for the activities of local self-government bodies are considered. The article describes the main advantages and disadvantages of the current formation of human resources of local self-government bodies. The main staff problems arising in the exercise of the powers of local self-government bodies have been considered. The main recommendations for improving the situation in the field of staff assistance have been described.
