Annotation: The article addresses issues of land sales and the problems associated with imperfection and inconsistency of the current legislation of Ukraine in the legal field. The necessity for redistribution of land of different ownership forms, by means of land auction (auctions), requires an appropriate legal settlement. The legal base has been established in Ukraine at present, requires reconsideration and updating because some existing legal documents on the subject are contradictory. The study has made a conclusion that the absence of an individual law of regulation of the order of land sales impedes the licensing activity on organization of bids and in turn raises doubts the legality of the land sales. The author has suggested to improve the legal base on the issues of land sales by means of adoption of an according law including the procedures of land bids or auctions and also considering the necessity of organization licensing of such kind of bids.

Keywords: land bids, auctions, licensing.
