Life Cycle of an Enterprise Business Processes Reengineering Project: Theory and Practice Analysis
Abstract: The theoretical generalization of approaches to defining the concept of «business process reengineering» is carried out in the article, and the author’s definition of this concept is proposed. The main types of reengineering at the enterprise are defined. The principles of reengineering of business processes at the enterprise, the observance of which is a necessary condition for the effective implementation of reengineering, are developed. The stages of the life cycle of a reengineering project are considered according to the methodology of M. Hammer and J. Champy, T. Davenport, A. V. Arsentyev, V. A. Barinov. Based on the results of the analysis, three main stages of the life cycle of the enterprise business process reengineering project are identified, which, as a result of the decomposition of business processes, are divided into sub-stages depending on the scale and complexity of business processes, the external and internal environment of the enterprise. The reasons for developing ineffective business process reengineering projects have been identified. Recommendations for improving business process reengineering projects have been given. A system of indicators that can be used to assess the effectiveness of reengineering with a sufficient degree of accuracy has been proposed.
